Factors for success in Hampshire Hospitals’ adoption of Heartflow FFR CT

In 2020, HeartFlow FFRCT (Fractional Flow Reserve derived from Computed Tomography) was an innovation adopted by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT).  

This short case study describes the factors  which enabled its successful adoption into practice.  

The story of HeartFlow demonstrates how not only adequate funding but the drive of a project champion, an organisation’s willingness for change, the expertise of Wessex AHSN and an implementation team which seized an opportunity, combined to transform a cardiac pathway for patients without the need for unnecessary invasive catheter angiography.
