This 2016 interim
report describes early findings of mixed method evaluation underpinned by the Normalisation
Process Theory conceptual framework that
found that the pilot implementation of WebGP (now eConsults) in two average
sized Wessex GP practices had a more positive impact on patients than on staff.
The evaluation identified drivers and barriers to implementation and a lack of
embeddedness in daily routine practice.
Patterns of usage and outcomes of eConsults showed that a fifth were
non-clinical i.e. administrative queries only.
