Independent evaluation of the Memory Box Project: reminiscence therapy inspired methods to improve the well-being and behaviour of People Living with Dementia [PLDs].

Category: Frailty, New Care Models, Service Integration

Date: 2018

The 2018 report focuses on the first two years of the project, the aim of which was to train and educate both healthcare practitioners and volunteers in using reminiscence therapy inspired methods to help PLDs share memories within a group setting to improve their self-identity and well being. The project soon became embedded in standard practice in hospital wards and in care home. The evaluation report provided evidence for the successful re-application for two years’ funding from the UK National Lottery Community Fund in order to spread the model beyond hospital and care homes and beyond Hampshire.
