Kate Heard

Patient Safety Programme Co-ordinator

Kate is the Programme Co-ordinator for NHSEI Maternity and Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme. Working as a midwife within the NHS for the last 15 years, Kate has gained clinical experience in both high and low risk inpatient and outpatient areas, community midwifery and within specialist roles including Fetal Medicine, Antenatal Screening services and Patient Safety. Kate has worked in several trusts within the Wessex area and in central London.

She has spent the last five years focusing on patient safety within maternity services and supporting both patients and staff to achieve optimum outcomes in care and reviewing where improvements can be made. Keeping the patient safe and at the heart of decisions around their care is central to Kate’s motivation in her work with the PSC.

When she’s not at work Kate is a wife, mum to a little boy and a little dog – living in the forest is perfect for exercising both of them!
