Tracy Broom

Associate Director – Patient Safety Collaborative

Tracy has over 30 years’ experience in the NHS as a nurse and a senior manager; she has a Master’s degree in Leadership and Organisation of Public Services. Her clinical career focused on Emergency Nursing and as an Emergency Department Sister she worked directly to the Chief Executive as part of an improvement team using Business Process Reengineering principles. She was an ALS instructor and Senior Nurse in Southampton and then Salisbury Emergency Departments.

After leading the Modernization Agency Emergency Service Collaborative at Salisbury Hospital, she moved to Wiltshire Primary Care Trust and progressed to the position of Assistant Director, Operations South. In 2008 she moved to the independent sector and worked for 6 years in the primary care arena. As Head of Services she managed a national portfolio of offender health and walk in centre contracts. When promoted to Director of Business Development, as well as bid submission, she focused on working with commissioners and providers to develop new pathways of care for patients.

Since returning to work locally she has enjoyed positions with NHSE Wessex and Wessex Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) where she is currently Associate Director for the Patient Safety Collaborative. Her role focuses on supporting staff and improvement teams across Wessex to reduce avoidable harm using quality improvement: Connecting and sharing across Wessex to improve patient safety.
