Lesley Mackenzie

Programme Manager

Lesley is the Workstream Lead for NHSEI Maternity and Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme.
She has over 30 years’ experience in the NHS as a general nurse working in acute, community and mental health organisations first as a clinician then as a manager, specialising in Infection Prevention and Control and Patient Safety. In 2006 she gained a first class honours degree in Health Protection and subsequently went on to study Professional Practice at MSc level.

Lesley has managed a number of projects both locally and regionally including Sign up to Safety, Wessex IPC and South of England Mental Health Safety Collaborative.

Lesley became an Associate Faculty Member for Wessex Patient Safety Collaborative in June 2015 prior to joining the team in August 2016 as Patient Safety Programme Manager. Patient safety is at the heart of what she does and Lesley continuously strives to support front line staff to provide safe, quality care.

When she’s not at work Lesley is wife, mother to 2 grown up children and owner of an energetic Jack Russell that shares a passion for walking and motorhome travels.
