Wessex Patient Safety Collaborative is pleased to host this Wessex wide network for all staff within the Emergency Surgical Pathway; building relationships to share, learn and influence in order to improve safety for our patients. The Network is supported by Mr James Kirkby-Bott (Consultant Surgeon, UHS) and Tracy Broom (Associate Director, Wessex PSC).
The network is open to staff of all grades working across the Emergency Surgery pathway. This includes surgeons of all specialities, anaesthetists, theatre nurses and ODPs, ward and Quality Improvement (QI) staff, including trainees and students.
We welcome individuals and teams to the network which we anticipate will meet 2-3 times a year.
The network aims to:
- Support improvement in patient safety, care and outcomes
- Connect staff and build relationships
- Share intelligence, ideas, challenges, experiences and progress across Wessex
- Increase the speed, support and spread of best practice
- Work across the Emergency Surgery pathway, from hospital admission to discharge
- Encourage standardisation and reduce variation and duplication
Network members will have the opportunity to join the Wessex Community of Safety and Improvement Practice (CSIP) and have access to LIFE, an IT platform designed to support connection and QI projects.
All resources from the network will be shared on the "Wessex Emergency Surgery Network" project page in LIFE.
Click on "projects" and "all" and find "Wessex Emergency Surgery Network". To the right hand side is a small link "want to join". We are new at using this so if any problems please email email@example.com and we will help you get sorted.
