There is an increasing national emphasis on improving the spread and adoption of nationally prioritised innovations – and a recognition that AHSNs have a key role to play to support this in their specific regions. The Innovation Technology Tariff (ITT) and Innovation Technology Payment (ITP) products are good examples of these national priority innovations.
We are working on a best practice methodology that applies the research evidence on how innovations spread with our knowledge and networks of Wessex.
To further improve our knowledge of how innovation is adopted, and to further develop our methodology for spread, we are currently undertaking a review of innovation adoption in a local acute hospital.
The purpose of undertaking this work is to investigate the identification, decision making and implementation roles and processes for innovation within an acute hospital.
This work also provides the acute hospital with an opportunity to review their current innovation support roles and processes with colleagues in Wessex AHSN to identify areas of best practice and improvement.
