General practice has rapidly increased the number of digital and remote consultations carried out with patients in their response to Covid-19. One of the most effective methods for streamlining the ability for patients to get support from the practice is through online consultation.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight STP have chosen eConsult (eConsult Health Ltd, https://econsult.net/ ) as the online consultation product to be pro-actively rolled out to practices over the last two years. Putting an online consultation solution into practice, however, requires significant changes to the practice pathways and can be a challenge, particularly in times of crisis like during the Covid-19 epidemic.
Wessex AHSN partnered with colleagues from SCW CSU to offer tailored support to GP practices in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to help them optimise, maximise and make the best use of eConsult. We provided personalised remote support to practice teams from two ex-practice managers with experience in rolling out and using eConsult in practice.
This project ran April - August 2020, during the first wave of Covid-19.
