The aim of the project is to empower and support clinical staff in a variety of settings, to enable them to educate and engage those individuals whose drinking habits cause them harm. This allows the patient to make an informed choice about their care and recovery journey by encouraging positive behaviour changes towards healthier lifestyle choices.
The project has completed its 'Develop' stage, with a very clear message that many patients with alcohol dependency lack an understanding of their bodies and the effect that drinking alcohol has on them.
A series of resources have been developed, for both staff and patients to aid education and discussion about the effects of alcohol and how to begin making positive behaviour changes. The 3D liver models have been well received by the hospital staff and patients, with the patients able to understand the size and position of this vital organ in their body.
