The digital primary care activities at Wessex AHSN aim to support strategic goals aligning to regional and national priorities. The Self Care Technology (SCT) project is an initiative between Wessex AHSN and Hampshire and the Isle of Wight ICS. The aim of the project is to discover the self care technology needs in primary care, run demonstrator sites of potential solutions and scale up those with the most demonstrable benefits and impact. The project is funded by HIOW ICS.
As part of the rapid insight events held earlier in 2021, low level anxiety and depression was one area that primary care colleagues wanted to focus on and following a horizon scan of services and innovations Be Mindful was selected as the innovation of choice.
Be Mindful is a clinical-grade digital therapeutic mindfulness course for better mental health and has been developed by Wellmind Health. Patients from the following practices are able to access Be Mindful through either self-referral or can be referred by a clinician:

This independent evaluation report of BeMindful, a mindfulness-based online course developed by Wellmind Health, was designed to explore the value of the intervention within several general practice settings in Hampshire. It also investigated the intervention itself and its implementation. The findings about the implementation are particularly relevant for similar online interventions supporting anxiety and depression. In summary, there was a positive impact for those that completed Be Mindful and a range of learnings about its implementation, including the importance of active introduction and support by Health & Wellbeing Teams.
