Rachel Dominey

Associate Director - Strategic Programmes (Primary Care and Mental Health)

Rachel joined the Wealth & Enterprise Team in 2016 as the Associate Director following a successful two years leading the Respiratory Quality Improvement Programme to national recognition in 2015 by winning a HSJ Value in Healthcare Award. Rachel started her career as a Podiatrist, specialising in biomechanics and becoming the Clinical Lead for the Isle of Wight and Extended Scope Podiatrist for the Orthopaedic multi-professional triage team. She has a mixture of an NHS and private international clinical career and in 2008 decided to change direction and pursue a career in strategic management working in a variety of roles across the public sector. Headhunted twice for her trouble shooting skills, Rachel has successfully programme managed high profiled projects such as the creation of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust (a new legal entity established in 2012) and the Isle of Wight Child Protection (whole-system) transformation programme. She has developed and implemented multi-agency improvement plans, led innovative service redesign projects and written organisational strategies to drive quality improvement and partnership working across agencies.

Rachel has a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership in Strategic Commissioning, an MSc in Leadership in Health & Wellbeing and is currently studying for her Professional Doctorate in Health Science at the University of Portsmouth. In 2015, her contribution to the public sector was recognised when she a finalist for the prestigious HSJ Rising Star award.
