This 8-minute video provides a summary of the many causes of malnutrition (including social, medical and environmental causes), consequences of malnutrition and where you can signpost an older people to go to for further support. This video is suitable for use both as an individual viewer or to be used as part of a group training session (we have included opportunities to pause the video for group discussions).

OPEN Undernutrition Awareness video: Part 6 (what you can do to support someone)

This 6-minute video covers the basic dietary advice you could give to an older person at risk of undernutrition living in the community (including nourishing snacks, nourishing drinks and food fortification). It also covers some information on how to broach the subject of nutrition with an older person. This video is suitable for use both as an individual viewer or to be used as part of a group training session (we have included opportunities to pause the video for group discussions).


OPEN Undernutrition Awareness video: Part 7 (resources and materials available)

This 2-minute video highlights some of the resources and materials available online to support people with undernutrition, for example the Wessex AHSN ‘OPEN undernutrition leaflet’ and Dairy Council resources. This video is suitable for use both as an individual viewer or to be used as part of a group training session.

This 3-minute video is designed to be watched after all other 7 parts have been viewed. It recaps the objectives of the training videos, and provides links to consolidation quizzes which are available to download from http:wessexahsn.org.uk/OPEN-toolkit (scroll down to the section entitled ‘OPEN training videos’ do download these quizzes; there are two quizzes – choose the one closest to your role). You can also access the consolidation case studies by downloading the Training Toolkit (zip file) most relevant to your role (Training Toolkits can be downloaded from the ‘Resources’ section on the same page). OPEN Undernutrition Awareness video (full)

This 40-minute video aims to increase your knowledge and awareness of malnutrition in community-dwelling older people. It covers the causes, consequences and signs of malnutrition, along with what you can do to support someone, and will provide you with some practical advice, skills and resources to help tackle malnutrition. This video is also available to view as 8 smaller sections, if you prefer to have a ‘bite size’ approach. This video is suitable for use both as an individual viewer or to be used as part of a group training session (we have included opportunities to pause the video for group discussions).
