Technology Support Programme 2 - Round 7 

We are seeking Innovators interested in applying for the NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) Product Development Award (PDA) Competition 26. The i4i PDA funds innovations which advance healthcare technologies and unmet clinical needs. It supports translational research and development of medical devices, in vitro diagnostics and high-impact patient-focused digital health technologies for ultimate NHS use. The research proposals may address any disease or health area, provided there is a clear unmet clinical need

NIHR i4i Product Development Award Key Eligibility Criteria:

• Projects can be led by Small-to-Medium-sized enterprises (SME), NHS providers or Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
• Projects must be collaborative between at least two of the eligible types of organisations.
• Projects can last a minimum of 24 months and a maximum of 36 months.
• The lead organisation must be registered in England.
• There is no upper funding limit for Product Development Awards, but costs must be fully justified.

Key Dates

Applying to TSP2 provides your company the chance to form a strong research team with Wessex based clinicians and academics, who will help you apply for the NIHR i4i PDA funding. Through leveraging the considerable expertise in Wessex, we aim to increasing funding application success. 

TSP2 applications are divided into five stages. More further details on each stage please see the Terms of Reference linked to this page:

1. Please start by completing the application form and AHSN engagement form. 
2. Companies and innovators will be invited to meet with the AHSN and the CRN to discuss their innovation and suitability for a collaboration.
3. If selected, companies and innovators will, with the AHSN/CRN, produce an information pack with application documents and highlight areas the innovator requires feedback. This document will be sent out to an expert panel of Wessex clinicians and academics for feedback.  The expert panel will then review the information packs
4. Selected companies and innovators will be invited to present their innovation to the expert panel. All presenters will receive further feedback, advice and, where appropriate, signposting to other opportunities.
5. The AHSN/CRN will invite successful applicants to begin forming a strong research team with Wessex based clinicians and academics, who will help you apply for the NIHR i4i PDA funding. Companies will be informed of the panel’s decision within five working days of the presentations
